An Affiliate of the American Group Psychotherapy Association

AGPS is a multi-disciplinary organization with over 75 members. Over the years we have hosted numerous local and national speakers at half or all day workshops and at longer more intensive three day conferences normally held in the fall of each year. The purpose of AGPS is:

  • to provide a local forum for the exchange of ideas among professionals interested in group psychotherapy,
  • to encourage the training and education of group psychotherapists,
  • and to elevate the standard of practice and the state of knowledge in the field.

As the local affiliate of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, AGPS is committed to ethical and professional standards in the practice of group psychotherapy.

Our Mission Statement

The Atlanta Group Psychotherapy Society (AGPS) promotes the personal and professional growth of individuals interested in the theory and practice of group psychotherapy. Centered in the conviction that the person of the therapist is the essential factor in effective psychotherapy, we welcome practicing and aspiring group leaders into our interpersonally and experientially oriented community and its learning programs.
