This workshop includes a didactic and experiential component as a means of understanding and utilizing metaphor and narrative to create change in groups. An emphasis will be placed on how metaphor and narrative shape and promote growth and resistance in groups.

Workshop Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

  1. Understand Lacan’s distinction between desire, demand and need.   
  2. Understand and utilize the concept of jouissance and how it plays out in group therapy.
  3. Explore the how the concepts of lack and desire form the basis of creative living.

  • 6 CEU’s pending for GAMFT, GPA, GALPCA, and GSCSW.
  • Workshop start and end times are firm in order to provide CE credit. AGPS cannot provide CEs for participants who have arrived late or leave early from any part of the workshop.
  • Due to time constraints, we encourage participants to purchase lunch from the Oglethorpe cafeteria or to bring your own lunch. The cafeteria lunch is $8.75, and there is a large variety of food from which to choose.
